Buddy’s droppings do seem wetter than Tweetie Pie’s but I wondered if that’s because they’re quite condensed whereas TP’s are a little more spread out. There could be the same amount of wetness, just that it’s run into the next dropping, if that makes sense. I think it’s good that there is the white to show urates being passed. For such a green diet full of soft veggies, I think I’d expect a similar type of dropping, but I have no experience to offer either advice or reassurance, sorry. I’m sure someone else will be able to, but if these droppings are so much improved from when Buddy was diagnosed with AGY, I really hope it’s no cause for urgent concern.

Thanks ariella. TP was diagnosed with AGY and his droppings have improved since then. The vet assumed Buddy had AGY because of how close they are. I'm wondering if Buddy is now showing signs of AGY.

Sorry, I didn’t read through your last post properly. I guess because it’s contagious there’s a fairly high possibility that Buddy has AGY as the vet assumed, but I presume you need an avian vet to determine that for certain. At least it would explain the vomiting. Aww, poor little chap. At least you understand the AGY though if that is the cause. x

Sorry to hear that poor Buddy is unwell. I hope he's started to improve a bit. It's a long time to wait to see a vet but it's good that he'll be examined by a vet that you know and trust. Hope you are feeling better soon Buddy!

Are the poops still the same TPM? How's buddy doing? I was thinking if you suspect AGY for buddy too and restricting seeds/millets helped tweetiepie.. maybe till the visit, if avoiding it might help buddy too..

Buddy is acting just fine, he's had his breakfast along with Tweetie Pie and is perched softly chirping, its 8:20am. His poops are still very wet. I'm not sure if this is something to be concerned about. He's eating well and yells at me whenever he wants more. I'm going to start changing their food dishes more frequently and giving them a bit more. They always have plenty of food and have their favorite bits. I want them to eat everything and not just what they like. Right now, Buddy eats his favorite bits first and then later eats other bits. We still have his appointment for June 15.

I'm glad Buddy is doing ok. I think his droppings look better than they were. The wetness maybe due to their fresh food diet. It's good that he's getting a check up soon.

I have been trying to control Tweetie Pie's diet with his AGY since the vet said the key to his well being was to get him off the seeds. When I initially gave him a bit of seeds shortly after he was on the no seed diet he did vomit them. It has been a while since he has not had any seeds except for a bit of millet which he tolerates very well. Buddy also gets the same food as Tweetie Pie. Then the issue with Buddy vomiting came up as described earlier. I only saw Buddy vomit the once so I watched him and decided that maybe it was just something that upset his tummy. I decided to re-introduce the smallest amount of seed in their diet. Four days ago I gave them 1/2 TBL to share just before their bedtime. Of course they gobbled it up. Tweetie Pie seemed to tolerate it well so I continued giving it to them before bedtime. I'll continue to watch Tweetie Pie and Buddy but I think it'll be good. Here are their poops from last night - looks pretty normal. Buddy: Tweetie Pie: One thing this also tells me is that when Buddy sleeps, he stays put whereas Tweetie Pie moves around.

I'm glad they're doing well too. There droppings look fine now. It's interesting that Tweetie Pie moves around in the night. Dean Stockwell does too.
Did your vet help you decide their new diet or did you research it yourself? All my vet has suggested is to switch to pellets of some kind which they don't really care for.

So relieved for you that things are looking more normal for them both.

criswell the vet also told me to feed TP pellets and fresh food. I did some research and found a woman here in the US who has done a lot of research and studies on the proper nutrition for pet parrots of all types. After checking into her background I was convinced that she knew what she was doing and she was working with an avian vet so her birds get regular tests and check ups. I contacted her and she has 3 budgies with AGY that have been doing well on a diet that does not have pellets. So my guys now have a nutritionist!

That's brilliant tweetiepiesmom. What's her name? I'm interested improving my boys diet and this seems like a much better option than pellet. Did she come up with a diet specially for your boys?
