We've finally managed to find a Hagen vision on Amazon to replace the 2nd of our Hagen vision cages. It was 12 years old and two of the bars had snapped and were temporarily patched up with nuts and washers! Doesn't look much different but was much easier to put together (so my husband told me!) Also a lot more expensive. The first one was £40 and 12 years later, this one was £90. Old oneNew one

Here’s hoping you get more than 12 years out of your new one, hoping the quality has stayed the same. I’m disappointed in my little boys’ new cage - Loki has pulled the powder coating of in places already. I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be as good as the original.

Its mad isn't it, the price increase. My favorite Ferplast Canto starts at £99 and goes to around £150 now, i think i paid around £60 for my previous one. Makes no sense when you can get something like the Hamberly for just over £100 .

Jasper sleeps in her own Vision and I have a second one as a quarantine/spare cage. They’re great cages but it seems everything pet-related has increased in price since the lockdowns.

I feel your pain HezzLast year I bought a lovely ferplast as a replacement for the 1st hagen vision. In less than 2 months, the hens had stripped the blue paint off the bars and I had to replace it with yet another Hagen vision. It was an expensive mistake. Here are photos of the ferplast, in the close up, you can see that the paint is stripped off and I felt it was unsafe as I could see it would go rusty very quickly. Here’s hoping you get more than 12 years out of your new one, hoping the quality has stayed the same. I think they have been producing less of the hagen visions since the lockdowns, I had trouble finding one anywhere for months. My usual go to would have been zooplus as their stuff is usually discounted quite a bit, but they didn't have anything at all. Its mad isn't it, the price increase. It’s shocking the Ferplast deteriorated so quickly. It’s a decent brand too. My daughter uses the largest ferplast for her two guinea pigs. I got my Vision from Aquapet, which was competitively priced at the time. Just looked them up and almost all cages par one are out of stock. Zooplus is popular too so for them to be struggling with stock suggests there’s a shortage or just a higher demand due to lockdown. Glad you managed to get hold of one on Amazon.

Wow, those naughty hens really did do a number on that cage, Marianne! I hope your new one stands up to their attentions.

Crumbs Marianne they did make light work of that , i had one of those and it didn't last long either, the canto seems more robust, i had mine for around 8 years before it had to go, Freddy was my bar chewer, thankfully none of my others have chewed the bars. Shame about your new cage Hezz, i can imagine that Loki has a pretty powerful beak

The original cage, the one he is in now, shows no sign of damage, and it’s about 10-11 years old.

I think overall quality has degraded for each and every product... The appliances my mom had are still working after 3 to 4 decades.. The expensive ones we buy now hardly work for 5 years.. even the vehicles.
I'm not sure if Cookie is trying to chew off the powder coating on the larger cage.. But I see her chewing the cage bars often.. I have to add something to shred, where ever she starts chewing. We got the medium sized cage powder coated and it's completely alright.. In worst case, we have an option to get the larger one powder coated from the Industrial area factories at a very cheap price whenever there's a need for it, but I'm always worried about ingestion of that paint by her.. 🤦♀️
