Hi all,
I've not been online so much for quite a while. First covid combined with work was leaving me exhausted and more recently I've had some bad news - I've got colon cancer. I just wanted to thank everyone who has helped me over the years with advice and support regarding my budgies. From illnesses to raising chick's providing comfort when they've passed to rainbow bridge. I couldn't have done it without this forum.
I didn't want to disappear and seem ungrateful. You are all fantastic!!!
Love to all, Cheryl

Oh my Lord, you have colon cancer?
I'm so sorry to hear that. Mind if I keep in contact through email to find out how you are? (If you don't have time to respond I'll understand)
Marianne

I’m so sorry to hear that news. What a horrible diagnosis for you to cope with and on top of everything else too. I really hope you have treatment options. My husband had cancer in 2005. It can feel a very surreal period of time. I hope you have all the love and support you need and wish you the very best. x

clt80, I am sorry to read this, but stay strong. Take strength from your budgie friends, some of whom you have seen overcome some terrific hurdles. It can be overcome, and you have a gentle strength about you. All good vibes winging their way to you. 🕊 I would not be willing to share all on the open forum, if you would like to stay in touch. Let one of us know how you feel about staying connected. Xx

Awh thank you guys ❤ I've just met with a new surgeon this morning who is going to operate a week earlier- 28th July and he was great. Some positive news it that it's only one part of my colon they need to remove. Will be in hospital for 7-10 days post op, no visitors under current covid regs, so been told to take an iPad and phone and books to keep me occupied. I maybe able to get online and stay connected but also happy to share my email address: I will message those who have asked with it in moment. I am feeling rough, and isolation is tough as it gives you more time to think, but to look at me you wouldn't know I had this terrible diagnosis. I hope it is earlier enough to have caught it in its tracks. I am actually trying to smile under the mask....

I'm so glad that we'll be kept updated. I'll be thinking of you (and emailing!).
Definitely ask for the hospital wifi password asap, don't wait for them to tell you it, I have had long hospital stays and they can make you feel quite isolated.

Well, that’s definitely a positive that only a small part needs to be removed. Also makes a great difference to how you feel, liking the surgeon. Remember these surgeons do this day in day out, sadly. But it means he knows his stuff.
Make sure you have music too to listen to. Do you have ear pods?
Also any audible books? If you have Amazon prime, then there some books that are free. You can download kindle on your iPad and iPhone. That way, you can just lie back and listen
I’ve everything crossed for you and it does sound like it’s an earlier rather later catch 🤞🤞🤞
When you feel like it, please do get in touch x

That is positive news! This is something that can be overcome. Everybody is individual. I have a good friend who had pancreatic cancer which had spread into his arteries almost 12 years ago. He was in his late 40's at that time and he had a driving desire to see his 8 year old son grow up. He did overcome it and his only reminder of that is the handful of enzymes he takes before each meal. It is amazing what our doctors can do and I'm so happy you've found a good one. I'll be sending healing thoughts your way and the prayer warriors are on it here. I hope Marianne Marlow won't mind letting me know how you are doing. Looking forward to sharing budgie stories with you again.

Yes I am feeling a bit brighter mentally today after the meeting this morning. Nurse has called and I've got an IV iron infusion tomorrow and another next Tuesday before the op. 😊

I’m glad you’re not having to wait long now, there’s plans in place and sometimes that can help you deal with things
