I'm sorry I have not been around much lately. We've all had a touch of Covid.
I didn't want to clog up Chery'ls post with info about me, I feel her situation is far more important.
We (hubby and I) had temperatures when the weather was so hot that we didn't realise we were ill. Really we felt like we had colds but didn't know it was any more than that until I took our temps.
We have been isolating for weeks now (I have not been out since 18th July) and we have had to get our pharmacy to deliver our normal medicines.
The worst bit has been not being able to eat and I lost 6.6lbs in a week. We called NHS 111 3 times and on the third time I had to BEG them to give us something for the nausea so we could eat, because we were effectively starving and in pain in our stomachs. She didn't want to give us anything, I was basically crying and felt like I was wasting away.
We're able to eat small amounts now and feel a little better.
This has not affected Eve at all, she has the sniffles but was able to eat and is perfectly fine. I made the decision not to test her because it felt barbaric to put anything down her throat and she'd just isolate with us anyway.
Our self-isolation ended a couple of days ago and so we can go out now, we just still feel a bit weak.

So sorry that you and your hubby caught covid and suffered. Good that Eve was fine because at her age she'd have just been miserable but not understand what was happening. I'm glad that you both are better now and able to resume your lives such as they are in these times. The only benefit is that now you have some immunity. Keep taking care of yourselves. You take such good care of us on the forum that we'd not have known you were ill if you hadn't told us.

Take care Marianne Marlow .. Sorry that you had to go through that. On the positive note, you have the antibodies now. Make sure to drink a lot of fluids and glucose.. Weakness might persist for a while..

That’s awful Marianne Marlow. Nausea is so awful. It sounds dreadful that you and your hubby were so desperate to eat and it must have made you feel so weak, especially with the temperature. Really glad you’re both on the mend now and little Eve didn’t really get too poorly. You don’t need to play it down by calling it a touch of Covid. Really, that level of pain and feeling malnourished is pretty dreadful. I hope you gain strength each day. Keep looking after yourselves. I think there’s quite a concern about the prevalence of long Covid now, and you definitely don’t want that. Really glad you’re on the up. xxx

I’m sorry, it must have been scary for you all. Be gentle with yourselves in the recovery period & take care.

oh no, that is horrible.. glad you are both improving now.
hopefully you will feel a lot better soon and then can go back to full eating. yes, keep your fluids up and if things like rice pudding go down easier, then they are good staples.
also just as anyway, I find that the best anti sick which is over the counter is sturgeron. think that is how you spell it, and pepto bismal helps line the stomach, but does contain a bit of aspirin
yes, def do not play it down, covid is nasty, and glad you are over the worst of it now and Eve is fine

Honestly, the worst bit was just not being able to eat and having no energy. It's been very mild compared to others experiences.
Eve merely had the sniffles, she didn't even get a temperature and was able to eat fine.
I managed to eat 2 flapjacks, some oat cakes and have a lot of lucozade today so far. I'm a lot better.
I really thought the respiratory thing was what I'd have to worry about (having a lung condition), but not at all really.
Coffee, however, tastes really weird.. bleurgh.

Glad your eating more 😊 it’s strange isn’t it, so varied how you’d think it might be and how it might affect you

Marianne Marlow Did you get your taste and smell senses back? I have heard of people who didn't get it back for quite a while.. It's really weird to eat something without sensing the taste..

I never lost my taste, but I have not got my sense of smell back properly yet. It's barely there. Marianne Marlow Did you get your taste and smell senses back? I have heard of people who didn't get it back for quite a while.. It's really weird to eat something without sensing the taste..

That sounds rough. I am glad you are on the mend and that Eve bypassed the worst of it.
I'd not have bothered with a test for a little one either. If you do end up needing to test her at some point, I am told it's ok to just do the nose swab for little children. This is still pretty unpleasant obviously but it's clearly absolutely impossible to do a throat swab on a toddler!

Sorry that you and your family have been through this, Marianne, and relieved that you do seem to be recovering. I do hoe that continues for you.

Can only reiterate what others have already said Marianne, here's hoping you are both on the road to recovery.

Glad to hear that you both are recovering from it and that Eve wasn't affected too much by it.
It is a B***** of a disease, how it can affect people so differently.
