So my sister bought 2 chicks this morning (the green and the grey one), first of all : 1. We’re not sure how old they are, so how old do you guys think they are 2. Should we only feed them when they started chirping? 3. And most importantly, when should I start teaching them about millets and pellets, about taking a bath, our house layout, and stuffs to make sure they’re familiar and know our house so they can play freely later I definitely want to know about how to introduce them to pellets and taking bath because I think starting with a chick is such a gold timing and I don’t wanna waste that chance🥺

Goodness, they don’t even have their feathers. I have no idea how old they are but I would suspect they’re still in need of being fed by their mother.

I don't think that they should have been sold to you at this age. As ariella said, their parents should feed them and teach them to crack seed before they go to new homes.

Yeah they’re so young and I’m actually feeding them some kind of formula specially for chicks with a syringe. It’s doing great, I’m just not sure the schedule to feed them. I’ve seen videos on youtube saying they need to be fed every 3-4 hours but when I wanted to feed them, they’re always asleep so idk if I should wake them😮💨

Did something happen to the parents?

I think this is very sad, these little birds should never have been sold, they are far too young to be away from their parents.

I doubt it. The breeder probably just thought they could get more money by selling them younger. Did something happen to the parents?

This is very sad, good luck with them, i think you will need it, raising chicks isn't for the faint hearted.
The formular has to be just right in consistency and temperature an if you are using a syringe be careful not to aspirate them, i think you should be spoon feeding them at this stage.

What a tragic practice this breeder is promoting, especially to sell these chicks to someone with no experience in hand-raising chicks. This is so wrong on so many levels. I think you need to get back to the breeder, or better still a more ethical breeder who can help you with the steps needed to keep these chicks healthy and growing. Good advice from skysmum.

I’m so sorry guys that I’m actually causing this mess, we’ll try our best to take care of them. And the breeder did actually teach me how to feed them and he’s occasionally checking on me to see if I had any trouble. Once again I’m so sorry, we should’ve think about it more before adopting them😢 Thank you for the concern and advices, skysmum I’ll make sure to keep a check on your advice❤️

It’s not your fault, they should never have been sold that young. I don’t know whether if they went back, would the parents feed them or as they’d been taken away from that, if they’d be rejected. If they can’t go back for whatever reason, please take the advice on here a d read everything you can.
