First flight this morning, from the middle one. It soared upwards then came down slightly less gracefully, but very triumphantly.

How wonderful to get see all these ‘firsts’ and it seems they’re coming quickly now. The three are just so gorgeous.

Are you going to keep them. Not sure. I have someone who wants two (he lost his pair earlier in the year) but hasn't got a cage big enough for 3 and it seems mean to separate them. Maybe I'm being too sentimental!

Gosh, I couldn't part with them. My son doesn't want to, but he also has to be realistic. We already have budgies in 3 cages. One of the cages could take an extra 3 budgies in, but no more. Here's a question for the experts. The babies now can get into the main cage, but find it harder to get back. Just been up to see them before bed and thought I better put them in the nest box for the night. They weren't very keen on that idea and displayed their annoyance with their beak I was just worried that if 2 of them go back then the one remaining might find it too cold overnight. Do I just leave them, or is it better to tuck them up in the nest box for the night?

Do I just leave them, or is it better to tuck them up in the nest box for the night? They don’t need their nest box, but they might appreciate a little hide on the bottom of the cage. Something like a tissue box with a hole cut into the side for them to walk inside into the dark. They can huddle together in there if they wish. Once that first one is perching, though, it probably won’t go back to the floor to use the box, so it might just be the younger two who use it now.

They're all perching now, with various levels of success. The parents have times when they go and hide in the nest box when all the children are running round the cage. I sympathise

If the chicks aren’t using it, take it out, otherwise the parents will see it as an invitation to start another clutch.

Can I move them all back to the main cage (only one other in there at the moment) as the nest box removes, but then there's a hole in the side which I am sure they'll all be out of and swinging from my son's airfix collection!

At this stage keep an eye on the parents, the hen in particular, if she gets broody she may try to hurt the chick's so she can 'make room' for another clutch. If this happens move her and let the father feed them and teach them how to Crack seed.
Gorgeous babies by the way.
