Maybe read mona thread - Breezie's weird leg movement. She uses natural remedies and there most likely is something there. Breathe, make a cup of chamomile tea!

Thank you, yes I do feel really stressed out as I am not well myself…..plus on looking, we have no Avian vets anywhere near where I live.😢

Hezz, told someone the other day about Cayenne pepper being the best for pain relief, but I don't know how this is given, I'm sorry. Sorry you're unwell too ladybird, I hope you feel better soon, and Charlie.

His foot is definitely weak, he lost his balance and fluttered to the floor and had difficulty trying to climb up the bars….I had to help him. He then had a fly round the room and landed back on his cage. I am going to have a sleepless night worrying about him.

When he landed back on his cage, did he land ok?
I’m sorry you’re not well yourself

Yes he did, he then came on my hand and up my arm to be near my face. He is obviously scared because he doesn’t understand what is going on. He is eating a sprig of millet now. I am worried he will fall off his perch during the night and can’t get back up, but at least the bottom of his cage has soft wood clippings to land on and we always leave a night light on for him.

I’m sure he’ll be ok tomorrow, he wouldn’t have landed ok if it was getting worse. He may have landed awkwardly another time and hurt it. Hopefully he’ll rest it tonight a bit

Hope you both have a restful sleep. I read where Hezz recommended cayenne pepper in the drinking water for pain relief but I didn't see how much to put in the water or if it needs to be boiled to dissolve it. I seem to remember reading here that someone was using ACV for a budgie with arthritis so may that works as an anti-inflammatory?

ACV is great for a whole host of things, also for adults etc

Does the affected foot feel hotter or colder than the other?
Budgies’ feet do get knocked around, and as Marianne has said, it could be something as simple as a caught claw, or more of a problem would be nerve damage.

I'm sorry both you and Charlie are unwell. I think we always worry so much about them and even more so when we are feeling low ourselves. Hopefully you both have a restful night and that his foot is looking better in the morning.

His foot is just the same, It’s as though it’s slightly paralysed but he can stand on it , but then keeps tucking it up….he is managing to get round his cage a bit and is eating and chatting a bit. He is definitely not his normal self and I am so worried about him…… Wish I knew how to help him 😢

Could you call a vet for advice? Or see if you can get a video of how he is with it to send to an avian vet. I know it’s not the same as going to one but they might have thoughts about it.

I'm sorry to hear that ladybird, it's no wonder you are worried about him, poor boy. Can your breeder recommend a vet that they have used? It might be worth searching for vets which specialise in 'exotics' as I think they often have experience in small animals and birds, more so than a standard cat/dog vet. Sorry I have no advice re his foot but spending time with him will keep him calm and watching him will help you get a good idea of his symptoms. Thinking of you both.
