Good morning all (or evening depending on where you live). So I'm new to the budgie game. I have 7 of them. To avoid going into the same stories of how awesome and funny their personalities are, I want to throw out a question about your cages. I have one that is about 3' tall and on a pedestal. I use one of those elastic seed catcher skirt things along the bottom portion of the living area, but the amount of seed husks and feathers that end up on the floor is pretty constant. My best idea was to put up thin plexiglass along 2 sides of the cage to keep all of that happiness inside.
What would be some other ideas I could try out before I get angry standing in line at Home Depot? Thanks in advance for your responses. Also, if this question was already asked, please let me know what keywords would be best to search the answers.

Hi and welcome! I've seen the "seed guards" that can be bought which essentially are what you've described: a plexiglass barrier around the lower portion of the cage. Unfortunately I don't have any clever ideas. I have 2 little guys. I also have one of those stick vacuum cleaners that's easy for me grab and run around the floor where I have their cage daily or twice a day when they are molting. What I find more troubling is the poop on the floor when they are out and perched on top of the cage or one of the perches attached to the outside of the cage. I have a couple plastic placemats on the floor below their most frequent perching spots. Most people just seem to deal with the mess.
