I buy Haiths Budgie seed for Charile and also the Tonic seed……Just lately he leaves a lot of the tonic seed , sorting out the groats and leaving them….I have just noticed they do a seed called Tip Top. Does anyone buy this ? I am wondering if this would be better for Charlie…He likes the Bravo seed, but I will buy the Tip Top if it’s better? Also he likes egg food but will only eat it dry…does anyone buy this from Haiths , if so which one please? I usually get one called quelko from pets at home…..

I buy Haiths eggfood and give it dry. It lasts for 6 months. Even with 4 budgies I don't get through all of it.
Last time I bought seed from Haiths I ended up choosing the aviary mix because it looked like it had the widest variety of seed types but no groats. My lot tend to leave the little black seeds from it though. Sadly they've been out of smaller volumes of individual seeds for a while, because I used to like mixing my own.

I buy tiptop, mine seem to love it. This was my last lot. Dunno why I took a photo of it, but it's come in handy I don't buy haiths own brand egg food, I think it's Cede.

I use tip top. My buds like it. I tend to mix 75% tip top with 25% bravo. The tip top has no groats at all. I tried tonic too but they didn't seem to like it except the oats!

I have ordered the TIpTop and will mix it with the Bravo at first………any reason why you mix it with the Bravo all the time?

ladybird there is no great logic to it! The bravo seemed a bit too many groats but a lot more of whatever the red seed is than the tip top. Finlay had a definite preference for plain canary seed as a young budgie and the bravo doesn't have much of that in comparison to the tip top. He'd get frantic hunting through the bravo to find canary seed kicking it all everywhere. Toby and Barney would tuck into either. If I was ordering the one I'd just buy the tip top. They only get 2-3 tsps each a day. I can't see any obvious seeds that are left so between them I think they must be eating the majority of what is there between them.

My tiptop has groats in it. I know because Blithe seeks them all out and I find them scattered all over the floor. I use tip top. My buds like it. I tend to mix 75% tip top with 25% bravo. The tip top has no groats at all. I tried tonic too but they didn't seem to like it except the oats!

Yes! If I have a mix with groats in it, Pippin likes to carry them to a perch and sits there chewing for a good few minutes before it finally falls. He looks so happy though. Marianne Marlow so having dug around in the tip top sack it does indeed have groats in it, my mistake! Just not so many that I notice without really looking. They stand out in the bravo, but perhaps because they are a different colour to the red seed. Here is the bravo And here is my tip top
