You will both be glad it’s over. What are your feelings on pellets? Hopefully he can live a full & happy life for some time yet.

I just remembered that the vet asked me if I fed them sprouted seeds. I said no because everytime I try, they go mouldy. I don't have very green fingers

I'm not sure about pellets to be honest. All the vets seem to push those and nutriberries.

I’ve read lots for and against pellets.
I’ve not tried sprouting, but it’s good for them if they eat it, that is lol

Yeah, when I took Munchy to the vet it was pellets, and more recently (barely half a year later) with Pippin it was nutriberries.
My lot seem to be doing okay on mostly pellets, but there are days where they definitely seem to hold out until they get their seed portion. They definitely don't seem to enjoy the pellets.

My photo outside is the face of a mum that was woken at 3am by the toddler from H3LL shouting "wake up wake up wake up!" and then had to get up at 7am to get ready.. Billy proved really hard for my husband to pick up from inside a cage and he had to take out all the perches. Then I helped get Eve dressed while my cab was waiting outside because husband had to take her to church at the same time as I had to leave. I had a huge latte when I got home and we ordered lunch on deliveroo from pret (not gluten free) Well done the pair of you for getting through a stressful few hours. Your photo waiting outside says it all. What a worry from that call, but I’m relieved he settled and everything went well. I’m really pleased that it was more or less something you were prepared for and that Billy can live some more wonderful years with you. I know you’ll handle his dietary changes perfectly. Lovely to see Billy happy to be home.

Glad it’s all over for you. I know exactly how you felt after taking Charlie to the vets a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully I was allowed in with him, although he was panting that much after the examination, I really though he was going to die! Just like you, I was totally stressed out at the end of it all……

It was the longest wait ever! I thought I would be carrying home an empty box Glad it’s all over for you. I know exactly how you felt after taking Charlie to the vets a couple of weeks ago. Just catching up with things an this could be Bailey Marianne. His poops have been like this on and off since i noticed his portly tummy about a year ago. I took him to the vet around six months ago when he was having a particularly bad bout of it. I was told the same re X rays and bloods which i decided against, as Bailey is 8.5 years i didn't want to put him through that. The vets opinion on him was Liver also but he felt his kidneys were compromised as opposed to Billy's possible Pancreas. Bailey has milk thistle most days, i have to limit fresh food to every other day because the water content can go through him a little, he likes his dried egg food, wont touch fresh egg, but pellets are a nightmare, ive mixed them with seed, ive crushed them, ive made a mash with them, it will snow in h3ll and he would rather starve than eat them . I wont let him eat millet or groats, these make it worse. On the whole he is stable and his usual happy self, when he's not moulting of course, so we are maintaining it which i think is all we can do. Not sure if any of that helps but just thought id share, the pellet stand off continues but i will keep trying

I think Munchy might have something similar. One vet said he might have a kidney issue as at the time he had very wet droppings and water retained in his crop. The other has pointed out his lipoma. He will drink a lot if there is running water.
The seeds in the nutriberries are apparently chosen as they are low fat seeds, according to the vet when I asked, but the small bird ones definitely seem to contain groats. Considering that oats for humans are carbs, are groats fatty or just so high in carbs that the birds don't burn the energy and convert it into fat?

Groats are very high in fat, in the right place as in very active birds or breeding birds they are fine but older not so active and they are not good. Bailey drinks a lot too so possibly relate to the kidney side. Mine wont touch nutri berries either, expensive waste they were along with the pellets

Hmm. Next time I order seed I may get oat free as I have Blithe eating a lot of oats even though tip top doesn't have that many.

Max drinks a lot, or maybe it’s normal and Bailey didn’t drink a lot in the early days.
He also eats a lot, maybe he needs the groats as young and he’s not full
Nutriberries, I’ve heard of
It’s hard that these little birds seem to have so many issues

[/font] It is the diet of the pet birds, i bet the wild budgies don't get fatty livers, shame we don't have a year round supply of natural grasses, i found what could be the last of the season today so that's on the menu tomorrow
