๐๐ I was just about to send you the ingredients for both FOREIGN and BRITISH mixes.
I think the FOREIGN mix is better, lots of fatty seeds in the BRITISH one

I agree and they wouldn't eat half the stuff in the british one. ๐๐ I was just about to send you the ingredients for both FOREIGN and BRITISH mixes. I think the FOREIGN mix is better, lots of fatty seeds in the BRITISH one

How is he Marianne Marlow this morning? I'm keen to see how the pellets are, if it's a success I may introduce them to my lot.

I think I'll put pellets on the back burner for now and I have ordered the foreign finch mix. It's mixed millets and canary seed. I am also going to sprout seed, use milk thistle more often and avipro in their water. How is he Marianne Marlow this morning? I'm keen to see how the pellets are, if it's a success I may introduce them to my lot.

Billy is fine today. He's been over to see Penny a few times and is mostly staying up high singing.

That's good to hear.... Sing your little heart out ๐
I'm wondering with the ingredients in the Foreign Finch Mix, if I could stop buying Japanese millet and Panicum millet separately now.
I mix both of these together in one dish at the minute and put Budgie Bravo in another.
They've been so used to going to both dishes ๐

We do! Iโm playing with lighting as one corner of his cage is a bit in the dim area. But I find it too hot if I put all the lights on, that make that corner ok

The thought of pellets make me feel a bit uncomfortable. It makes me think of humans, instead of eating fruit, eating a pellet form with the equivalent nutrients. It just seems like a bird is designed to eat seeds & pellets seem so far removed from โnaturalโ. Our vet is an amazing avian vet but she has never mentioned pellets (or nutriberries). However she also specialises in wild birds so maybe that is part of it? I know what you mean. I just put them in because I don't want to free-feed seed whilst I'm at work, then offer fresh foods and seed morning and evening. Nice to see Billy visiting Penny, Marianne Marlow!

starrymist I often have the same argument with myself about pellets vs seed and real food. I myself try to avoid "manufactured" food for myself, including store bought baked goods, as much as possible, opting instead for veggies and fruits that I prepare myself. So, should I feed my guys pellets? Marianne Marlow the parrot nutritionist I discovered has made a study of what foods various parrot species need to get the best diet possible. She owns several parrot species including several budgies and works with an avian vet to make sure her birds are healthy. She has 3 budgies who had AGY and after their course of medicine, changed their diet and they are all healthy with no AGY symptoms. The AV also checked out their droppings and didn't find the yeast cells in them. She gave me their diet which I've been feeding Buddy and Tweetie Pie. She also doesn't recommend pellets. I tend to think our budgies may be like us with some having "allergies" to some foods. We just don't know much about that or how to detect it. Fortunately, my guys are doing well on the diet. They love the food, are happy, chase each other around and are getting friendlier with me. Yesterday afternoon Buddy saw me go into the frig and pull out the little container of chopped egg. He flew onto my shoulder and stayed there until I finished preparing the dish. As I carried the dish to the table that I put it on, he crawled down my arm, jumped on the dish and started eating before I put it down. Very cute!

Your parrot nutritionist seems amazing, we could go with more here, avian vet wise.
Love it Re the egg
I tried to give a mix of fruits today - but Max turned his nose up.
I think once he uses the table - heโs happy to let things drop in it when we play, but going on it eek! - then heโll hopefully be interested in seeing whatโs on the table
