I need to give this thread a thorough read and give sprouting a try.

Jump on in and join the group Ira! That bag of beans looks really good jellybean. I'll bet your budgies will love it. I'll warn everybody sprouting of one thing - your buds will make a mess when eating them. My two will take a bite or two on a sprout and then toss it out if its not to their liking or "just because". They get the sprouts all over their beak and then wipe it off using a perch or anything else handy or just shake their head flinging it all over. But they look so adorable "gumming" the sprouts.

Finally I see some shoots appearing. Maybe they will be ready tomorrow?

Sounds great Marianne Marlow! Give it a try feeding the sprouts to the budgies. Hopeully they'll take to them right away.

Mine were ready today, gave them earlier this morning.
Never went near them.....in the bin they went.
Sam has never taken to them, he will nibble at Alfalfa sprouts, but that's it.
Maybe I'll have better luck with the mixed beans. I'll probably end up eating them 😂

Keep at it! Mine also didn't eat sprout immediately. I started by giving them the sprouts first in the morning. They began by nibbling a couple and after doing that, they tried more of the sprouts and decided they like them. I tried giving them broccoli sprouts but they didn't seem to like them. Honestly, I didn't keep giving them those so I don't know if they would eventually have eaten them.

Marianne Marlow you could post a picture and we'll give you an opinion. When I tried sprouting bird seed, only about half grew.

Marianne, if the birds don’t want them, you can eat them!

Sam is first down to any veg, except broccoli, he's not keen on that, sprouts have always been iffy with him, but Ben and Max loved them.
Seeding grass, and millet grass when I grow it are firm favourites.
You should try growing the millet grass Marianne, it's easy peasy.

Fussy little things they are. I have grown millet grass, but my budgies didn't eat it.
