Help with sprouting seeds for the budgies

My two seem to like the grain sprouts best. They'll eat those first, then go for the mung bean sprouts and leave the lentil sprouts for last whilst yelling at me to bring more of what they like. I've decided I must stop caving in and make them eat some of the lentils even though they yell like they're starving!

Any takers for the Alfalfa sprouts Marianne?

I've just soaked my second batch of mixed beans this morning, will persevere, but I think I'm fighting a losing battle 😡🤣

Yes jellybean, persevere! You know how stubborn budgies are with their food. Have you tried giving it to them first in the morning when they are hungry?

As soon as the cover is off in the morning they both dive to the seed pot TPM 🤣🤣

But I will keep trying.

Mine go straight for the mung bean sprouts. If I do a bowl of those and sweetcorn there isn’t usually much left over.

I thought I had ordered alfalfa, but I ordered mung beans.

Oh, don't put them in the bin! Give them a good rinse and add them to a salad or to any veggies you might be having with a meal. Stir them into rice, add some sliced green onion (Scallions or other onion), a bit of garlic if you like it, season with a touch of nutmeg and oil of your choice (butter, olive oil). You can also add sliced almonds or another nut like walnuts and peas or snap peas. Great side dish and very nutritious too.

Please persist - its so good for them. I love watching my guys eat theirs.

Thanks for the tip TPM, that sounds nice, might make a batch for myself.

There are still some in a sealed container in the fridge for the boys, enough for another two days, we shall see what tomorrow brings....Sigh 🙄
