Hi guys, I’ve had wee Cecil for almost 6 weeks now & he is 11 weeks old. He’s learned “step up” very quickly & loved being scratched/tickled on his cheeks or under his beak. Although he is still happy to hop on & off my hand he’s reluctant to let me stroke him now & is biting/mouthing quite a lot. It’s not overly hard but he will come onto my hand & start it instantly. I’m discouraging this with firm “no” or putting him back on his perch but is there anything else I should be doing? When he is out of the cage is is quite independent & does his own thing but he will come land on my head & groom me or just perch on my for a while. He has a toys in his cage & different ones for when he comes out which he will play with! Any advice or tips would be great xo

He’s made great progress. I’d say, don’t stroke him. If he wants the cheek rubs etc, he’ll let you know in his own way. A lot of budgies don’t like touch/stroking etc.
I’d say keep up the ‘no’, put him back on his perch. Once you stop, hopefully he will

I'll pass along a tip I got from Hezz when my Buddy started to bite my hand. When he bites, say "Ack, Ack" imitate that sound budgies make when they are irritated or warning off another budgie (if you're not sure of the sound, listen to some on YouTube), and immediately put him off your hand. It worked fabulously for Buddy.

My Charlie is just the same, very tame but has always hated being touched. He loves me and we have a mutual understanding 😘
