I used to give Bailey grit, but read now that some do, some don’t.
I have it here. But do any of you use it?

Thank you. I have one by The Bird House. I’ll start adding it.

I buy the Haiths one too. It's a good source of calcium at the very least.

This has calcium, so I’ll start using it.

Just make sure it is SOLUBLE grit ffiscool, which Oystershell grit is.

Hmm, I got it as I thought it’s what I used to use but it doesn’t say soluble. I’ve not opened it, I’ll go back to where I got it and swap.
Thank you for saying 😊

The original one I’d ordered was not properly sealed. So I’d swapped it. But they look very similar, so I possibly picked up the wrong one

Or I’ll call the company.

All I’m reading is suggesting that crushed oyster shell grit is soluble

I buy the same Haiths one. I think the mineralised grit is best avoided but this oystershell is fine. My late Gaia used to love using grit but Jasper prefers to turf it all out and the boys occasionally have some but mainly ignore it though I caught Louie having a dust bath in it once.

How do I know if mine is mineralised

ffiscool - Mineralized oyster shell grit should be ok, it’s just minerals added to oyster shell, just not any other mineralized grit (insoluble). Unless I’m mistaken? ariella

Sorry I meant mineralised grit being insoluble and unsuitable, not mineralised oystershell grit. I said mineralised grit but can see how what I’d written could have been misunderstood as mineralised oystershell grit. Hope that is clear now Morgan and ffiscool .
