I’m terrified of them. Had 2 big ones in last few days. Tonight’s was on the wall in spare riom
I’ve ordered a stick thing that catches them and you can put them outside
I’ve read so many things that supposedly deters them but no proof any of them work.
anyone got success with deterrents?

I'm also not a fan. This one has me stood on the arm of the sofa 😂. There was a second one this morning in the living room bin. No success with deterrents! This is where Hezz chips in with some 'proper' spider photos...

Ugh, I feel your pain. I’m in upstairs flat, so I normally get fewer. I just hate the size.

Vacuum cleaner works well. blueelephant, I promise not to, just this once. Remember Crocodile Dundee? “That’s not a knife …”.

conkers in the corners of rooms supposed to work. I keep a whiskey glass on hand ready to catch them. I find they come out when my oh is away I don't like them but I am not as freaked out as I used to be!

Sadly my Hoover is my go to. But hopefully the catcher thing will spare them. Apparently we have another few weeks of them

My grandparents' little handheld hoover used to leave them alive. But then you did have to get a bit closer.

Conkers don’t work….. Once when my hubby was working on a late shift until midnight….I decided to go upstairs to have a bath, I got to the top step and there was a HUGE spider! stupidly instead of coming back down, I jumped over the beast. I had my bath , but the spider was still sitting there and I didn’t dare go past it so had to go to bed, with the bedroom down firmly shut . I am still scared of spiders and darnt even get close enough to grab them with a catcher

Bugs of any sort are not allowed in my house! I rarely see them but I do occasionally see a tiny grey lizard. Maybe that's why I don't see bugs? Which would you rather live with - a lizard or spider?

Imagine if you put the vacuum cleaner on reverse by mistake and all the little critters came out and ran after you

I spent some time this afternoon evicting spiders from our outside toilet. My parents are visiting at the weekend and to save going up the stairs my mum has asked if she can use the outside loo. It's a good thing she isn't scared of spiders as they will be back in their again by Saturday but at least all the cobwebs are gone. We normally just use the building as a shed and I forget that there's even a toilet out there.
Even though I'm not scared of spiders I'd still rather have a lizard.
