Hi all, just had four lovely days in Wales. We stayed in Beddgelert in Snowdonia, very nice if not a wee bit damp in the Forest Campsite we were snug in our van though, very beautiful with all the streams and waterfalls, also visited Portmerion. Batteries recharged, back to the grind.

Sounds like a well-earned break. Ohhh, I like Portmerion pottery. Is it hideously expensive in it's own home?

Nope....it is made in my neck of the woods of North Staffs and we are able to get discounts and the warehouse has tent sales that are great....but much of ours is seconds which you would not be able to tell why they are seconds.....we have the Botanic Garden series..... We climbed Snowdon last June and camped just outside of Llanberis.....we did a visit to Portmeirion a few years ago because Gaz is a huge "Prisoner" fan...."I am not a number".... ;D

To be honest i didn't really look at the pottery, i brought my daughters a pretty tea towel which cost £8 each and the lady in front of me was buying a handbag for £150 so i decided to move on and take in the scenery. I love the Old Tupton Ware and managed to acquire another piece in beddgelert . It all seems a long time ago now, amazing how that happens when you've had a break away.

A day or two back and it is as if you never left. I suppose pottery isn't for everyone and you can only have so much. Kath, you need to add this: "and not upset those in the colonies". That will keep you busy for a while. ;D ;D

Hezz look away now..... ;D We have 3 Old Tupton Ware light pulls....we tend to find ours at Dagfields Craft and Antiques Centre....I always say that if we move into a period house we will always find period furniture and such there....

Just think what it will be like for your poor children, having to clean out all this JUNK ( when you are no longer around, and they have inherited the lot! My mother had to do it for her mother, and I will have to do it for her (shudder, shudder). So much stuff!! Gran was a bit of a hoarder and had the money to indulge herself too, unfortunately. But the truely beautiful old things are definitely worth holding on to.

I know, I'm helping my mum, my dad passed away a couple of years ago and we are still sorting through his stuff, he was into photography and video, there was masses of it to go through and the garden shed that was another story, but mum is making sure i wont have to do too much in the future so she sorting it now bless her . It has made me think, i must start, i don't want my girls to have to do it. I have however been putting little labels on some of the bits just to let them know which bits are old or worth a little bit. They are so throw away these days, i don't want them to chuck family treasures.

With you all the way, on that one. And don't let them throw things which have huge sentimental value to you - they will regret it later.
