Hi Guys, This is my first post, I have had my budgie for 15 months and I am totally in love, I spend a lot of time with him as does my husband. We have built a mini assault course and he spends a lot of time out of his cage. He is very tame and wants to be near us the whole time when we are at home. The only thing he doesn't seem to do much is bathing, I have tried different size containers, using lukewarm water, the couple of times he has had a bath he seems to really like it so I am a bit confused, any ideas?

I have one who will really enjoy a bath and spend a long time bathing, but only extremely infrequently when he is moulting and itchy, the rest of the time water is only for drinking. Conversely, I used to have one who would happily be in and out of a dish of water several times a day, every day of the week. Some budgies like dishes, some fountains, some like being misted, and others like to rub on wet leaves. Some like frequent baths and some are very sporadic. Just offer some form of bath and he'll indulge if he feels inclined. Baths aren't really a necessity. He's gorgeous, by the way. Sounds like he's loving life with you and your husband.

I love the play area you have created. That's one lucky little guy!
As suggested, try hanging wet greens such as carrot tops, dill, parsley, etc. While they don't need frequent baths, it is fun to watch a wet budgie.

As budgies have evolved as a desert bird, bathing in a puddle is not something they often would have the opportunity to do. They do mostly bathe by rubbing themselves over wet, dripping leaves in the wild. Don’t offer a bath towards the end of the day, make sure he has time to dry off totally before any afternoon/evening chill starts to set in.
