So i bought our female budgie some toys in wood, since she loves to shred it. We had to buy her these wood toys or else there would be no more playground left over She is like a beaver.
Her wooden toys are getting well used by her, but we started to notice something strange. There is no sign of wood splinters in her cage. Just shreddet wood toys..does she eat the wood ? Isent this dangerous ?
Normaly there would be a pile of wood splinters in the bottom of the cage, but we see none !

As long as the wood is soft and not splintery, there shouldn’t be a problem. It is the sort of thing she would be doing to make and line a hollow for nesting so just make sure that she isn’t hoarding them anywhere.

Since she chews the cage bars, I suggest you keep an eye on the areas where she's removed the paint. If those areas start to rust, you'll want to replace the cage. In general painted cages are not good in case they ingest the paint bits they chew off. You might want to save up and replace the cage with one that is not painted.

This was the cage we got her in from the old lady that dident want her anyway. What a gift this budgie girl is to us now We will keep an eye out on that. Money is no problem for a new cage.

A powder-coated cage is tougher for her to chew bits off than painted. Something to keep in mind when you look for that new cage.
