The day is here at last. My little blue fella is on his way to the vet soon. The appointment is at 11.40. Here is his carry cage (kindly donated by Nigel Hughes) My husband has turned it into Fort Knox so that we have no mishaps with the door! I'll update later to let you know how it went. Fingers and wings crossed for us please.

Thank you Hezz. I am so nervous. I always worry that it could be the worst and coming home with an empty cage would be devastating.

It is very stressful.

We just wanted to be sure! My husband wanted to put a sticker on saying "Danger! Carnivorous Budgie inside"

Unfortunately we had some car trouble so we have had to postpone the appointment. Hopefully be going on Friday instead at a different practice with the same vet.
I spoke to the vet on the phone and described Blueboy's symptoms. He seems to think it's an iodine deficiency (I didn't mention it - just told him what had been happening)
He said to give seaweed, grate iodine block on his food and add lemon juice to his water in the mean time - the latter to break down mucous.
Hopefully this will be the cause and he'll get cured Friday - fingers crossed.

What a shame about the car when you were all geared up to go. Let's hope those measures are all he needs. Do you have a "pet to vet" service in your area in case of future problems? Some of the local pet sitting/dog walking companies here offer it so I just wondered if you could access something similar if necessary
