What a bummer, Marianne! With some luck, Blueboy will already be on the road to recovery by Friday, following the vet's advice. After waiting so long! Good luck, Friday, then.

What a shame about the car when you were all geared up to go. Let's hope those measures are all he needs. Do you have a "pet to vet" service in your area in case of future problems? Some of the local pet sitting/dog walking companies here offer it so I just wondered if you could access something similar if necessary Hi Sarah. What is "pet to vet" ? The vet is quite far from me and it's my friends vet. Darn. I was hoping to we'd have duelling vet reports. Roll on Friday. Roll on Friday indeed. Thanks Stace. What a bummer, Marianne! With some luck, Blueboy will already be on the road to recovery by Friday, following the vet's advice. After waiting so long! Good luck, Friday, then. Thank you Hezz. I'm doing all that the vet said and I hope it helps him a little bit before Friday.

Since when has he been wheezing? When did you change from Trill to a different seed? Just that Trill has added iodine.

Hi Marianne, sorry for the delay in replying. "Pet to Vet" is like a car service for transporting you and your pet to the vet quite simply! Around here we have a couple. They provide dog walking services etc anyway and the car is kitted out with secure cages for transporting dogs and larger pets. Its quite a handy service for anyone without a car or who would need help in getting to the vets (typically elderly people as an example). The added bonus is that they will wait to take you home too and the people that run it are animal lovers who won't complain about a few feathers or strays seeds/poops in the car afterwards! Hope it all goes well today x

It's not really good news I'm afraid.
The vet says that Blueboy does have an iodine deficiency. Unfortunately he also has a tumour in his stomach, which is why he's having problems pooing, he squats and strains.
He gave him an iodine injection, a steroid and diuretic.
Vet said that he probably doesn't have more than two months to live.
I asked how to calm him down, was told that a drop of rescue remedy in his beak or a few drops to his water might help.
I'm to carry on with grating iodine block onto his food and sprinkling seaweed on and come back to the vet next Friday.

I am really sorry Marianne. It is very sad. Does the vet think that urine flow will help him?
