I took him to an avian vet, not too far away. The smell had virtually gone but was a bit there. She examined him all over. Checked wings, feet, crop etc. She could smell it, but nearer his bottom. Everything was fine. Weight 45g and no discharge, nothing. She took a sample of his poop, which showed how scared he was. Bailey loved the car, not Max.
there was nothing in his poop
by the time she came back he smelled really strong again. So clearly it’s stress related
she said no treatment as nothing obvious. His crop was fine. She felt his keel bone, tummy
I forgot to ask her about crop wash but I’m sure she would have done it if she thought he needed it
if it doesn’t ease I’ll ask her if I should do the ronivet s. I told her I had it here
so, I’m glad I took him but it’s odd
he’s in his cage looking miserable - oh and he had one long tie nail, so that was cut

Was it the vet who thought it was stress related ffiscool? He never looks stressed in any videos you post of him, yet you said he smelt funny the other day. It's a strange one. Hope he has a restful night after his big adventure today.

No. I mean he was panting the whole time, holding himself thin and rigid.
I’d read that some things are exacerbated by stress.
So I don’t know the cause, but he hardly smelled at all when we left here. She could just about smell him when we got there but the time we left, he smelled again.
I’m hoping it goes again. But it’s odd indeed
He’s preening at the moment

He’s not himself and I think his foot hurts where she cut his nail. When I touched it earlier, he created and just now. Hopefully by tomorrow he’ll forget it ever happened.
He’s hopefully going to have a good sleep.
Poor boy

The thing is, she’s fairly well known as another vet mentioned her to me. I had no idea when I booked him in, it was this vet I was seeing
I almost wish she’d said yep, crop issue as then it’s treatable
I’ll just watch him closely to make sure no sick etc. He’s definitely losing fluffy little feathers now

Sleep well little Max. Hopefully the smell is nothing and will gi away. Maybe its his warning to you that he's stressed.

It’s unusual though as he shouldn’t smell. I’ll be doing the ACV daily and adding vitamins to his food tomorrow.

He’s playing so I think he’s over the trip. I haven’t got close today, to see how he smells, poops overnight seem ok.
At some point I’ll get near his mouth lol

Sorry you had to make a trip to the vets with Max ffiscool. How frustrating that you didn’t get a definite answer as to the cause of the smell. It’s a bit of a puzzle.

I think it’s coming from his stomach as not his crop. she should I think have tested. The ronivet doesn’t sort that.
Equally she clearly thought he was healthy
I’ll see how he is by the end of the week. Maybe she can think of something else I can do. I’m not taking him back though. Worst case I’ll take him locally as he won’t need examining as such. Maybe a local could discuss with the avian

Just thinking here - if you think its his stomach, would ginger tea help him?

Oh I don’t know, I’ll look it up thanks. I only think it must be his stomach as it’s seemingly not his crop
