I almost forgot to carve my pumpkin today as I've been a bit distracted. I usually just do a typical pumpkin face but I decided to try something different this year and I've carved my pumpkin in honour of Mr Randolph Carter. It's based on a cartoon parrot I've been drawing since I was a kid. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

It looks really very beautiful 😍 Randolph will be so happy to watch it, while playing with his friends, enjoying loads of millets above the rainbow 🧡

I’m sure RC would have come down to visit his pumpkin self. I’d like to think so, anyway.

Thank you everyone. And thank you Marianne Marlow for making the picture bigger. I am pleased with how it turned out. I had to draw it on the pumpkin loads of times before I was happy with it.

I'm not a pumpkin carver - I'm afraid I'd have o fingers left if I attempted it! I love your pumpkin, so much better when its personalized.

I bought a carving set a few years back in the sale after Halloween and it has a tiny little serrated knife that is really good and doesn't slip. I wouldn't have been able to do this with a regular kitchen knife. I actually had the pumpkin sitting on my lap when I carved it which I would definitely not have done with a real knife.

It’s a lovely pumpkin; just perfect. You’ve done really well as it definitely looks like a budgie. We don’t bother carving pumpkins anymore now the kids are grown up but when they were little we used to and would light it for a couple of evenings and then out it went into the chicken coop, which was so much fun as the hens loved pumpkin! I’m sure RC would be very proud of his very own carving.

Thanks ariella. I've carved a pumpkin or other fruit/vegetable every year since I was a kid. It used to use a swede before pumpkins were easy to get hold of. One year when I was a teenager I made a tiny latern out of an apple because we forgot to buy a swede. I had to put birthday candles in it. I bet the chickens looked really cute tucking into a pumpkin. Did you used to give it to them whole or did you have to break it up?
