Hello everyone. My name is Alan Bundy and I am a budgie breeder here on the east coast of the US. I breed and show English/Exhibition Budgerigars. I'm also a photographer and blogger.
Forgive me for not getting the results of the February photo competition until March 1st but here are the results. I picked the top 3 birds to me and I'll explain why.
The winner is:
Entry #10
Do you think this one will match my feathers
2nd
Entry # 12
Elfie finally stepping up, what a clever boy!
3rd
Entry # 15
Ollie thinking we can't see him..........he often tries to hide behind things.....not sure why....but he never gets fully hidden.....
There were many really good pictures and I originally picked out 10 and worked from there. I decided that since the competition was about our birds being clever, budgie brains I would look for the entries that demonstrated the birds actually showing intelligence, with the comments influencing my decision. If you told me something I trusted what you said as truth.
My 1st choice was entry number 10 because the bird is actually holding something up to the camera demonstrating that it can do something.
My 2nd choice was entry number 12 and I would have chosen this bird for 1st place because I know how difficult it is to train a bird to jump on ones finger, but I felt the 1st place entry was more advanced in demonstrating its cleverness.
My 3rd choice was entry number 15 and truly a favorite but not showing as much as the other 2 birds.
Thank you for allowing me to judge your competition. These things are always fun to judge. All of our birds are special in their own way but perhaps its hard to capture it on camera. I'm amazed how clever our birds are! They are so beautiful and smart.
Regards
Alan Bundy
