Blueboy has an avian vet visit tomorrow afternoon at 2pm as we think he has an iodine defeciency (short vet consult over phone and symptoms match)
But his breathing is getting harder and the shortness of breath attacks are getting worse.
He had one 30 minutes ago where he just kept falling to the ground with beak open, making no noise and wings out. He was really weak and obviously very frightened as I picked him up to comfort him and he bit me really hard several times as I held him really lightly and talked to him in a calm voice.
Anything that I can do to help him before tomorrow?
I have put him in a cage on his own. I have the air purifier next to his cage (no air is blowing on him)
I'm playing a very calm radio station (chill)
Also have a bowl of hot water (covered by a colander) at the bottom of his cage as I was told by a previous vet that the steam helps them breath.
Anything else I can do??

Humidity, Marianne. A vaporiser or humidifier, or run a hot shower or bath and put him in the warmed bathroom. Keep him in the quiet to calm him, semi-cover his cage to limit his activity and need for breath. Keep him warm and all the usual sick bird stuff as well.

I hate seeing any of my budgies like this Stace. I just hope he's still with us tomorrow for the vet visit.
His feet and the top of his beak are quite blue which I know is lack of oxygen.

He's trying to sleep at the moment. Poor little mite. I have the mini-humidifier on.

To help him breath, I would place him in a closed place and get Eucalyptus oil and put a few drops in a steaming pot of water or an electric crock pot. A fogger or humidifier is an expensive alternative. Eucalyptus Oil

Here he is (look at the top of his beak) and here are his feet just taken. They're too blue right - lack of oxygen?
