That's for sure. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Sorry to hear about Blueboy I'm sure he's got fight left in him yet though. I would also be interested to hear about things other people have done for their budgies with tumours. Whiskers was diagnosed this time last year with a tumour on her chest and one on her vent which is a bit bigger than an egg and feels soft as though it's fluid. She was getting on fine except in the last few weeks I've noticed her sitting at the end of the forked branch, legs on either side and leaning forwards so it must be getting bigger and more uncomfortable. I'm going to try and get her to the vets in the week. Last time she was given lactulose and milk thistle but I had to stop giving it after a few weeks because she wouldn't take it. I was reading earlier about lupron - might this help with some tumours?

It seems it has been used a bit in the US, with some success, but without researching a lot more, that is about all I can say. Starzie, if you read through my thread "My beautiful Blue-Bird", the last couple of pages of that are about my experience with Bluey after his tumour was drained, last week.

Sorry to hear Blueboy has a tumour! Bibi has a fatty tumour and has had it for at least 3 or 4 years... and it doesn't bother him at all. I have heard ACV can help, I think it has to be quite a strong solution to be effective though. I tried with Bibi and he didn't like the taste so I just left him alone, he seems quite happy. Some people have also had success with 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide. Tacey mentioned it here Hezz ^ I really cant find that much on it, but i will continue to look & post any interesting articles i find here, i read somewhere that the Birdman of Alcatraz had documented this with high success rates with his canaries (yes i know bit of a strange twist that one, but he wrote 2 books which helped forward research into bird health....apparently!) but id be damned if i can find it, it was on another forum when i googled after reading what Tacey put. I have used hydrogen peroxide on myself, but its the chemist stuff not the food grade, and I swear by it for heavy colds & flu, infection for these start in the ears so a few drops in the ears every 4hrs works wonders..tried & tested..on us feather-less kind! Towards the bottom of the page on this link, there is a small paragraph: www.shanti.com.au/alternative/hydrogen_peroxide.htmIt reads: Hydrogen peroxide for dogs and other animals: You can add a few drops of Hydrogen peroxide to the drinking water of any animal including birds to treat a variety of illnesses. If you give H2O2 to pets we recommend to reduce it to a 1% solution. For larger animals like cows and horses use 1 tsp of 35% in 50 ltr of water.
