Don't tell me you have never heard of seed cake?? PS Getting a bit OFF TOPIC now.... I have but you mentioned Sponge cake. Experience or age are no excuse for rudeness. Hi Please accept apologies. Rudeness was not my intention. Sponge cake was offered in crumb size pieces as reward treats. No bird earned enough to get fat because of the effort needed to earn it Yours B.J.

If you wish to get your little mate out of the cage for training, while a bathroom is usually the smallest room in the house, you do not have to be limited to it. How about a bedroom? Just somewhere you can make budgie safe where he cannot escape to the rest of the house. For the times he flies off, it makes it lot less time consuming if you aren't having to follow him around a large area.
Some budgies do stress if they even think they don't have enough food, so I would keep a close watch on depriving him of food for any length of time.

Hi again, I've made a bit of progress with Frankie today - as you may recall, Benny, my male, has been flying to my finger for food for a while now, but while Frankie (female) looks interested, she could never quite bring herself to sit on my finger at any price! She did fly close by while Benny was on my finger with a stick of dried egg food recently, so I thought it might only be a matter of time. One problem has been that, if Benny is there already, he pecks at her to go away so he can have the lot! So I popped him into the cage so that she could have a turn on her own, and today she did land on the stick itself (not quite my finger, but as good as!) and sat for quite a while enjoying it. She's still jumpy though, as even if I moved slightly, she was twitchy, but she had her turn. Benny came out again and joined in, but was being a bit of a bully trying to make her go away again! It's all good fun though
