Came in to the room and Barney was sitting on a horizontal ladder clearly very unhappy. Finlay was up close investigating and Barney was making lots of distressed cross get away from me noises. I couldn't immediately work out what was wrong then saw his wing was looking funny in an uncomfortable position with some of the primaries stuck under his foot. I open the cage and gently grab him, picking him off the ladder, and getting him out of the cage to check out the damage. On opening my hand up he flies off, lands on the cage top and has a little sing and head bob.
Yes, the drama seemed to entirely just be related to the fact he had trapped himself by standing on his own wing feathers! Fool 🤣🤣🤣

Glad everything okay, they don't half give us a fright sometimes.

I'm glad he's ok. Such a fright for both of you.

I'm laughing here but I also know that sick feeling you had in your stomach before you knew what was wrong.
Barney, you bampot.

Oh Barney! What a silly Billy you are but I’m glad that’s all it was. Making your mum sweat even more in this weather is very cheeky!!

Oh Barney! What a silly Billy you are but I’m glad that’s all it was. Making your mum sweat even more in this weather is very cheeky!! This is exactly what I was thinking after running to shout my husband in from the garden just in case I needed an extra pair of hands. It is far too hot to be worrying! Also we have house guests this week so they have not been out as much as normal. My husband reckoned it was all a carefully constructed master plan, with expert acting, to make us open the cage door so they could escape and go see the visitors.... This is one of our four house guests. He has the best hair do of any budgie I've ever met.

jellybean this is pretty normal. He has huge head feathers and often big pinnies but he's a happy chatty little thing. They don't seem to bother him.

He does have eyes 🤣. He flies around fine and appears to be able to tell where he is going. He just looks like a punk rocker when he stops anywhere and gets excited!

I believe a super-shaggy head like Barney's is a relatively rare mutation, from my limited reading.
It looks very distinctive on Barney and is absolutely delightful.

I wonder if they hurt a lot more coming through? Charlie has a lot too.

Goodness, I hope they're not too uncomfortable with their pinnies!
