Absolutely not trivial in the slightest Hezz. I’ve seen a number of these in different guises today and they’re all beautiful. A lovely one of her with Phillip, with her majesty leading a pony and a corgi strolling alongside them. I really do think the Paddington Bear surprise will mean hundreds of thousands - if not more - children, plus her very own great-grandchildren, will always remember her in the sweetest way. It seems very surreal even though she’s been getting more frail. I think seeing King Charles address the nation tonight will make it very real. Has to be incredibly difficult to lose your mother and yet have to get to work both publicly and privately and pack in a lot before her funeral, and at the grand age of 73.

I'm surprised how sad I feel about the death of The Queen. It feels a little like a relative has died - an extra grandmother that I never actually met.
It is so heroic that she was able to appoint our new primeminister on Tuesday.
I'm glad she left peacefully and I hope she had her dogs with her as well as her children.

Just watched King Charles's tribute to his Mother....Beautiful, heartfelt, and so moving.
I have no doubt he will make a great King.

We watched it too. I'm not a massive Monarchist (But I had huge respect for the Queen) I found his speech heartfelt and sincere.

I watched it also and it was so touching. Every word was beautifully delivered and it demonstrated his love for the Queen, his Mama, and his dedication to the increased service he now has to take on with such immediacy. I thought he also made a point of the streamlined royal family he has always intended to have, by talking about the new Prince and Princess of Wales only and ensuring he emphasised Harry and Meghan would continue to build their life overseas and thus not part of the royal family. I am glad he has reached his destiny, though it is always and only in the saddest of circumstances, but I don’t suppose anyone imagined he would be 73 when he became King.

I agree, I am not his biggest fan, but thought the speech was excellent. I think he will be good too, having seen how his mother was. Yes, re Harry and Meghan plus he could not be faulted on how he mentioned them.
I do wonder if Harry's memoirs will still be published soon as I just think anything in there like anything they have said in the past, should be left in the past.

I thought Charles speach was very moving, heart-felt and eloquent. I live very near a church and it was moving hearing the bell tolling at 12pm. I stood out in the garden for a little while listening to it until the rain got too heavy.

I, too, wa surprised at how emotional I felt. I even said so to my OH.
She must have had a wonderful sense of humour to have even contemplated the Paddington skit.

In the words of Alastair Bruce.... "Scotland has welcomed the Queen home"
What a turn out she got, on her journey from the beautiful Highlands 💝

I hesitate to comment on this thread as I'm not part of the UK. The Queen had a significant impact around the world and news of her passing has been received around world with sorrow and sympathy for her subjects. We are all watching the events as they unfold and listening to the various speeches with interest. There have been a couple of documentaries made in the past couple of days about her life - very well done and very respectful of her entire family.

It's not important that you're not part of the UK. I think her passing has affected many people. It just felt like she was immortal. I hesitate to comment on this thread as I'm not part of the UK.
