Hello. I just cannot get an avatar on my profile. I've created a website, put it on, put in the URL. It keeps disappearing!! Would anyone be very kind and tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Thank you very much! After lots of fiddling around (due to not reading the instructions properly) the late "Henry" is finally up and running. Thanks for all your help!

Would love to! But I didn't think you could keep a gallery on this site. What do most people do?

Ahh, I see how to do it now. My mistake is that I keep trying to do it with my iPad and this is unsupported by the photo websites. I'll get on the PC this evening and have a go from there. There are some great pics in the gallery forum! I love the way that people on this site are so committed to their birds. My daughter and I have always viewed budgie ownership as a labour of love - so many like minded people here!

Hi Simon I am really glad you like it here! We'd definitely love to see more photographs. As BB said you can either start a gallery or post them in the: Budgie Pictures and clips section Marianne

Thank you for being so welcoming! My daughter Sophie and I had a terrible loss only 3 days ago, and joining this forum has helped considerably. Domingo was only 14 months old and unusually developed a large internal growth by his kidneys - inoperable I'm afraid. His mate Lucy is very distressed - this can last a few weeks by previous experience. I will put a post on the 'Fields of Millet' sometime, but for the moment quite honestly it's too upsetting.
It's lovely to be among such nice people who understand these things and we can't help but smile at the wonderful photos and comments that are posted.

Simon, I completely understand your grief. I too lost a bird only two days ago. A little Blue budgie that we rehomed (most of our budgies are rehomings) called Blueboy.
He also had a tumour, but near his stomach. We thought we'd have a couple more months with him but alas did not.
We can only show them as much love and care as we have. Other things are not in our control unfortunately. x

Thank you for your kind words. I'm sorry about Blueboy, poor little chap. It must be very satisfying rehoming budgies and I imagine it has its moments! We certainly have room for a few more if we come across the need.
Domingo lasted for 3 weeks after initial diagnosis, and at least he seemed to enjoy his 3 vet home visits! He kept his dignity right up to the end and in fact died peacefully in his familiar environment, with Lucy by him. We are sure he knew he was loved.
This is poor Lucy's second bereavement, she is very unhappy. We do what we can, but time is needed before we can consider a new partner. Non budgie people just don't seem to understand that they have very deep feelings and actually grieve.
But onwards and upwards.... these things don't lessen one's commitment to these lovely creatures, I believe they enhance it. I certainly could never live without them!
