Thank you for the update. I hope the small improvement you're seeing is a trend.

I usually work on the idea of "at least some went in". When they are especially wriggly and un-cooperative, it's all you can hope for! Glad you're seeing some improvements though, that's great

We took Grashak back to the vet today after completing his 14 day antibiotic treatment (Amoxiclav, if that is a useful reference for anyone in the future). The crop wash and gram was redone and we were told that the boy’s infection had completely resolved! Thank you Lordie, we were at our wits’ end! I did notice that his overall comportment had improved over the last few days: no more slumping over with eyes half-closed, stronger and more frequent vocalization, good posture when resting and less dozing during the day.
We were given the option of also testing him for psittacosis and beak and feather disease (although the vet said she had no reason to suspect he had either) as good practice before ending his quarantine and uniting him with my other budgie. Because this would have involved a stressful blood test and because my other budgie has also never been tested for either disease (the recommended practice is for both birds being joined together to get tested), we decided against it.
The boys will meet tomorrow after having been calling out to each other for over a month. I am very excited for them and also very relieved to finally put an end to quarantine (45 days!) and all the crazy cleaning, hand washing and rounds of disinfection it called for!
