I think he would probably accept them eventually, the same way a budgie learns not to be scared of a hand. Put the gloved hand in the cage, wait for them to calm down, remove and praise, and keep repeating, getting closer and closer and waiting for them to calm and rewarding. Offering seed or a treat from the gloved hand. I might start doing that over the holiday so that once I've got him stepping up onto a perch I can try with my finger until I'm confident that he won't bite me.

Hi, Scaring a bird does not teach a bird not to be scared. It is more akin to admitting defeat & resigning to fate. Many birds hurt themselves & have been known to have a heart attack in a panic flight. See my post for a more humane way of achieving your aim. Yours. B.J.

I think I'm just going to give up even bothering to try. He just bit me because I was holding the perch that I had to use to get him down from the mirror when I was offering him millet from the other hand as a reward for stepping onto the perch.
