With so many budgies and precisely zero avian vets available to me, this seemed to be a good investment: Immediately after the pic, Chocobo came hopping over to take a look. I cannot have her reading this though, she's already a drama queen over the least thing, bless her little ball-of-sunshine heart. Let us know what you think of it! I always thought my Perry had access to a secret Avian Medical Encyclopedia & was working his way through it. Definitely agree you should keep it away from Chocobo - don't want to give her any ideas...

I will be looking through the tome soon. It's been a while since I read any technical manual of any sort!

I would be very interested in a review of the book loz sweetpea are the drops for the mites having any affect on Finkles behaviour? Difficult to tell for sure, Marianne Marlow. He has "turns" which are still ongoing, but prior to the vet visit, he was doing weird head movements. I haven't seen any more weird head movements since the application of the first spot-on, hence giving the 2nd treatment. But that could be coincidence... Probably need more time to see if the drops solved that particular problem. He did have a few twitches a few days ago which may or may not have been related to the potential ear mite problem, but if they were, the 2nd treatment would sort them out. All that to say, your guess is as good as mine!

I would be very interested in a review of the book loz sweetpea are the drops for the mites having any affect on Finkles behaviour? Briefly - the book is more of a quiz or an exam preparation book than a reference book. I'm certain it will have valuable information in it, once I have found the knack for finding it! I will report back in a thread once I have my head around it.

sweetpea I hope that Finkle stops the weird head movements soon. That must be quite disconcerting for you all.

sweetpea, I share Marianne's hope that it is parasites that are the cause of Finkleberry's head movements. I have everything crossed for you.

It's all a bit complicated because there could potentially be about 3 separate things going on. Firstly, he has 'turns' where his leg (either one) will seize up, but he can still fly, which apparently means it's NOT a seizure (even though his panic can make it look like one). Secondly, he has 'head twitches' which look more seizure-related - the vet mentioned focal (partial) seizure. Thirdly, the weird circular-like head movements, which may be ear mites. If you can look all those up in your tome, loz, let me know what it says!

Currently working my way through this book. I've just completed case #90 (there are 271 Cases.) As you might have expected, it's not a cheery read. Many of the cases don't really concern parrot owners, so it's a case for me of quickly assessing applicability and then moving on as required.
I've not been helped by a Flock who I am convinced is high-as-a-kite on fizzy drinks, a visiting neighbour, a really disruptive weighing session and a chocobo who is determined to help me study.
