Sorry Hezz - just me being dim, I hadn't realised which part of Australia you lived in.
Thanks for your help.

Anything that's dripping wet and green would do, whether you've got foliage or bunches of herbs. And I wouldn't worry about them screaming blue murder when you mist them. I think sometimes they kick up a fuss, but secretly it's all part of the enjoyment. My bird screams his head off when he gets sprayed and flies about like a nut, but he always comes back for more.
It may be like our first sensation of jumping into the water - a rude shock at first, but then invigorating.

I bought the four little horrors a great big bunch of coriander this morning, gave it a good watering and hung it in the cage.
They retreated to the other side and glared at me!!!
I will try it for a month and see what happens.

Eventually they will send out a brave one to investigate..
Could you peg a small piece of millet near it?

Well, that got the two brave ones over to the right side of the cage. It was fascinating watching them work out how to get at the millet without touching that nasty new stuff.
The trick is to climb the aviary wires hanging upside down and then duck under the offending corriander and grab the millet!
The bravest one did manage a couple of experimental chews as he ducked under, so it may be the start of something?
The coriander is of course dry by now. I will keep trying though. If nothing else they might have found a new food.

Nice one! Yes, if they have a bit of a nibble. Then you can make the leaves wet another time

I just took a sneaky look out of the window and the two bravest were tugging away at the stalks of the coriander. Progress!!!

Hi Stace
Sorry I only just noticed your posting, I had scrolled past it.
Yes, they kick up a bit of a fuss when I mist them but they never come back for more. They retreat to the corner away from me and just sit there like little stuffed budgies looking miserable and long suffering.
They really do not like it, but I have to reduce the temperature sometimes.
Thanks for your suggestion though. Mind you it looks like there is hope of the wet leaves/herbs trick working when they get used to it.
The cowardy custard two have still not approached the coriander or the millet, but I expect they will with time.
