I've seen the same thing as Azalea . Our birds who don't want to go home have been more likely to go in the cage when we left the room.

I used to try and get each Cockatiel in the cage by waiting for one to sit on my head, then I would slowly move forward and stick my head inside the cage. Then carefully turn my head to one side, which usually made the bird hop onto a food bowl or perch.
Lately this only works about half the time. If I try to stick my head inside the cage, Kona/Pepper will suddenly move to one of my shoulders. Or hop to the top of the cage and wait for me back away, then return to my head.

This same trick use to work wit BB aswell but each time she outsmarted me . She real hates her cage. Letting her use my mothers appertment as her "cage" works well for now. She found her slepping place in the "snake bird robe" We can see in he droppings where she sleeps
