Thanks Marianne. That might work. I used to have his rope perch and mirror outside and he'd come out for that but wouldn't go any further.

Heehee XD He's so cute! I'll try to do some things to get him out and exploring. I'll have to find some way to stop him eating the millet through the bars. He's a cheeky monkey!

Well, the little Munch-kin has started coming outside to eat some millet and talk to the shiny part of his skewer. The stand-perch thing I made was pretty much falling apart so I am now using the uncut dowel to hang his mirror from outside. It's pushed through the bars of his cage to keep it stable enough for him to walk on. His rope perch is back outside with the hanging balls next to it and his millet was by there today but will keep moving. I've also taken out his seed for a bit and put some on bits of paper around the room with the toys that he's never touched (the ones that don't hang down) near them to try to get him interested in exploring. He's been down for some food after using his ladder for the first time (it's hanging off the end of his door and rests nicely on the floor) because he discovered it when trying to see himself in the mirror. So yeah, a good day I see a lot of people make play gyms for them, but I'm not sure I could make one and can't find any to buy that look decent. Mainly I wanted to know what sort of things to put on one to keep him entertained. I think I'll have to wait and see what he's interested in (because if he never touches the toys on the ground then there's no point getting anything else like that for him) but also, because I don't have a room just for him to play in I can't hang anything from the walls or the ceiling. I could probably hang something off of a mirror or picture as long as it was temporary but I don't think my grandparents would like me drilling things into the walls.

Hopefully he'll get more confident eventually. Thank you for the advice He also ate out of my hand whilst standing on it and then bit me when I offered my finger even though I wasn't nearer to him than a couple of cm. I guess I'll just have to give up on interacting with him :/ My bf said he'd try to teach him not to bite though, because I either flinch as soon as the beak opens or end up pulling my finger away reflexively when I get bitten even though I'm trying not to.

You do need to go through the pain barrier sometimes. I have a biter, if I ignore the first couple he stops doing it and preens my finger.

The last one didn't actually hurt that much, it's just hard to stop myself from pulling away without thinking about it. It's just annoying because when I was offering food he didn't attempt to hurt me at all but as soon as my finger is remotely near him he gets all grumpy with me. Maybe I'll give it another go on Saturday once my grandparents are out and my bf can bandage up my fingers XD

You could try putting a plaster on the end of your finger. I do that sometimes when administering meds

Oh my goodness! Genius idea! He probably wouldn't be scared of that like he is with the gloves (flying away from those is the only flight exercise he's had in two days because he won't let me take him out wne when he comes out by himself he doesn't fly). I'll have to try that Thank you!
