Just to share that the egg hatch date should always be counted from the day when the hen starts to incubate and not when the eggs are laid

YAY YAY YAY!!! Egg number 5 from Lilly Tess still has 4 eggs so I think she has finished. Last time I checked she had 4 eggs anyway When I checked Lillys eggs today, one of them had blood on it. I thought it was cracked but It wasn't. I think it was the one she had just laid. Is it normal for a new egg to have blood on it? Egg No. 1- 9 days old, 9-12 to go Egg No. 2- 7 days old, 11-14 to go Egg No. 3- 5 days old, 13-16 to go Egg No. 4- 3 days old, 15-18 to go Egg No. 5- 0 days old, 18-21 to go First egg getting close ;D Nicola

Thank you BB. Egg no 6 due tomorrow! Last time she laid eggs she had 6 but her first 2 were laid on the ground which I was a bit unhappy about because they were both fertile. We ended getting 2 chicks . Hopefully we get more this time! Nicola

Hi again. Sorry for the lack of updates, nothing much has happened! Lilly was due to lay her 6th egg yesterday, but I don't think she did. I think she has finished. Her first egg is 12 days old and is due to hatch on the 22nd of April at the latest. All the eggs are 2 days after each other. Fingers crossed for pinkies!

Hi all Just a question, from the outside of the box, the eggs look white and shiny. Does that suggest that they are fertile? Thanks in advance Nicola

That's a good sign. But only you can tell because picture won't tell the real color

That's good then Sorry I haven't been updating, been away in Bowral for 4 days. Anyway, I haven't candled the eggs so I don't know if they are fertile but the first egg is due to hatch between Thursday-Sunday. Looking forward to pinkies...hopefully but anything can happen. If they are fertile, great! But if not, their is always another pair or next year. Fingers x Nicola
