been to the dentist ...and going to get that cavity filled again .....the guy said it looks bad but has a good amount left which is strong...... as for the root canal i had done .....iv been given a script ...for some stuff to harden the tooth ... if this dont work ....then he said it would need deep drilling.... and he cant do this ....its a specalist only job .....he said the next step is up to me ......as the treatment will cost about £700.00 or pull it out ...you can gues which i said id go for ... IT WASNT THE DRILLING ...LOL...

Be sure that is the way you want to go first, Mick. Having a tooth pulled isn't a walk in the park either, and then you have the problem of the other teeth not having the support of the missing tooth. I have ended up having to have a bridge because of one dentist's mistake which left too large a gap, which caused a hole below the gum-line, which couldn't be filled, and so had to come out. About 6 months later one of the teeth beside the missing one started to ache - it was shifting because the other tooth wasn't there to keep it in line .......... so I have a cap-type thing over the two on either side, and a "false" tooth in the gap. Wasn't cheap, I can tell you! May be worth asking the questions on the ramifications of getting the tooth out. The side-affects they don't want to tell you about. Hope your tooth hardens up, too!

I agree with Hezz. Pulling a tooth may seem like the easy and cheaper option, but often a crown is a better way to go in the long run.
I know how expensive it is though. Getting advanced dental care is really out of reach for the average person, never mind those on minimal incomes. At least it is in Australia.

The cost kills me too Mick. I had to cancel a family holiday because of unexpected dental work last year. All up it was four hours in the chair and it cost me a month's wage.

Teeth are such a nightmare. I hate going to the dentist, but who likes it?!
