Hi, I bought some thick sisal rope today for the gym I am making. However it feels quite coarse and I was wondering how the budgies little feet would cope with this?? Thanks for your help ,

Any sort of rope I like to use is only for play areas which are supervised:) I wouldn't hang any rope in the aviary or cage, but the birds do love it when they are out:) Its unlikely they would get entangled in it, but I'd prefer not to take the risk!

When you say sisal rope it is an off white colour or a nice white colour? Also have you smelt the rope to see if it smells of oil? Some rope is treated with an oily stuff which isn't good for birds.

Honestly, I had less trouble when my kids were babies! I thought sisal was safe?? Now I need to think about oil It is a cream colour .

It should be a natural bone-colour with only a dry-grassy type of smell. It is quite coarse and you may have different reactions from the birds. Of my three, one went straight on (guess who?), one hopped on but hopped off again quite quickly but will use it if needed, and the other (again, guess who!! ) practically fell off my finger trying to get away from the nasty stuff! Young madam obviously thought her twinkle toes too dainty for coarse old rope! But after some weeks of giving her no choice but to step onto it (I know, I am mean ) it is now not an issue.
