Know what you mean Sam. No matter how much pain their passing cause, it's nothing compared to the smiles of following their lives. So true Marianne, but in time we will get some more feathered friends which I am SOOO looking forward to! As for Visa BB, that does surprise me. I thought they would have helped? In my case, it was my bank that actually telephoned me to let me know that there was a posible transaction going through from Ecudor?! And they thought it was suspicious, thank god!

Yes we are surprised too, rather shocked. If we use our credit cards outside the country, it will be blocked automatically. So before travelling outside the country, we call and inform the bank that we will be in so and so country for this many days. They are using this as an excuse that you informed us that your credit card will be used in UK during these days.

Yes that is nasty! Talk about covering their backs, but I guess they can't guarantee security outside of their own country. The world can be so ugly sometimes - people with no regard for others and what they work for.

Yes it is, but usually affiliated with a bank or other, true??? Yes it is. But both Visa and affiliated bank get the commission on every purchase. In fact Visa gets more.

There are pro's and cons no doubt for having a credit card but I am not a fan I've gotta say for all the trouble they can cause. Think they are ok if you have monthly expenses i.e. pay off at the end of each month when you get paid (its the cheapest loan you'll have) but get into difficulty and plus fraud youre opening a HUGE can of worms

Yes there are pros and cons for credit cards but having credit card is a must nowadays, especially for travelling and bills payment services. But the associated fees can be avoided if wanted. As I always pay in full and well in advance, my bank was not able to charge me a single penny in last 10 years or so. Instead I have been given around 1000 pounds in points, certificates and shopping vouchers.

I don't have a credit card. Because I can't have one!
I manage fine with my debit card - it's visa anyway.

Is it difficult to get one in UK? No. But I am an ex-bankrupt so my credit rating will be shot for another 3 and a half years at least! I don't want credit again anyway, it was enough trouble the first time!

Thank God we don't have such rating things here. No record of ones bank transactions. You can get one very easily as long as you are employed.
