BB, what is the concentration of the liquid calcium you use and what is it diluted in? Sunnyjo, if you check with the liquid calcium you can get and compare it to BB's when he gets back to us - just make sure it isn't diluted in alcohol, or contain alcohol. Or as BB mentioned order your calcivet online and go pick it up - it is in your hand then. Rather than waiting.

Putting her in a different cage, preferably one with a wire grate floor, would be the quickest way to stop her laying eggs. Totally new surroundings will upset her routine. She might still lay another 1 or 2 eggs that are in her system. There is no point in leaving the eggs in the cage for her to sit on because it will stimulate her to start another clutch when she decides that they are not going to hatch. If she doesn't show signs of egg binding there is no need to dose with liquid calcium but it would pay to be sure that she has a good supply of cuttle fish and shell grit

Hi If she was mine, I would leave her to sit the eggs & let the old girl get it out of her system naturally. she's not laying because she wants to upset you. She has no control over her hormones. Why upset her by doing all those moves to her cage etc . She'll stop when her body tells her, not because you've moved her swing around, even though they may coincide Yours .B.J. As I said in my post, these are the tried and tested tactics.

I used this one for a while when I had no access to bird specific liquid calcium.

Here is the dosage. But Barrie advised me to use just two drops in the birds water for a week each month.

Hi After the number of eggs she's laid You don't need to worry about egg binding. Nor should you worry about her calcium intake. Any pet budgie has enough in her body to cope with the laying of a few eggs. The egg binding is mostly confined to show birds bred only for size etc. Don't worry although having said that 12 is a good age for a pet. You must have looked after her very well. Yours B.J

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I don't own a cage with a wire bottom. I have moved everything about and added some new toys to her cage but I think she may already be planning more eggs, we shall see. We've also moved her cage position so hopefully that will help.
I've ordered the Calcivet online, hopefully she'll be fine without it in the meantime.
We're in Glasgow.

Unfortunately not, to be quite honest I'm scared of her now. I didn't realise there was a forum like this for advice, until she started laying eggs and I searched on Google about eggs.
She's had a pretty rubbish life, she's not neglected but she does only have very basic care. I know I'm perhaps 12 years to late but I'd like to improve what life she has left, do you think it's possible to tame her now?

It's difficult but not impossible. What do you mean by only very basic care, if you don't mind me asking. Since she is not tame, you can place her cage in a place like a hallway or something where she is disturbed by people every now and again.
