As requested, here is a thread about Olives and Grey Greens.
Although the two shades look very similar, but they are different.
Olive:
Budgies have a level of Dark Factor. It ranges from No Dark Factor to One Dark Factor and Two Dark Factors.
A budgie with No Dark Factor will be a Light Green budgie. A budgie with One Dark Factor will be a Normal Green budgie. A budgie with Two Dark Factors will be an Olive budgie.
Grey Green:
Gray factor is a color adding factor in budgies. This grey factor is strong and overrides the underlying body color. For example, the grey color will be added to a budgie's original body color, if this budgie has a grey factor. Normal green budgies with a grey factor added, will have Grey Green color.
So:
Olive is a Green with Two Dark Factors.
Grey Green is a Green with a Grey Factor added.
How to tell the Difference:
We can distinguish between the two types by looking at the cheek patches and the tail colors.
A Grey Green budgie will have Grey, Silver or Blue cheek patches and a Black tail.
An Olive budgie will have Violet cheek patches and a Dark Blue tail.

Thank you for the distinction BB. Now I'll have to try and remember it! Hee hee. Me too, Marianne. In one ear, retained briefly, then out the other. I believe Boo and I have had a mind meld. And it has lowered the IQ of both of us. (There was an ex New Zealand prime minister who made a famous joke about the many New Zealanders migrating to Australia. According to him, it raised the IQ of both countries.)

Cheek patches and central tail feathers are only helpful parts in telling Olive green budgies from grey-green budgies.
But beware there are violet-olive green budgies that had very dark green bodies and darker duller cheek patches.
Cheers
Clinton.
