Isn't it true they lock their tendons off? I have no idea about that. It would be interesting to know that. Lovely pictures BB, always love to see birdies snoozing Thank you

Aren't they weird sleeping like that. I don't think my bird has ever slept sideways or upside down. But I know some of them do. You'd think their legs would get tired.

Isn't it true that one half of their brain sleeps at a time? We need a budgie myth buster to help us! ;D Not sure how we would arrange that! I really don't think I have ever seen one of mine asleep properly. I think there are times when we think we have snuck up on them, but with that one eye open, one eye closed thing going ............ I think we are only fooling ourselves. Mind you, I do have an old house that creaks and groans with every step, so maybe it's just me! ;D

My house isn't old but my floorboards also creak! I try and tip toe around them at night if I have to venture into the front room.
Everytime I check up on them they are just staring right back at me.

Exactly, Marianne! I have never caught mine asleep in the morning, no matter how early and how carefully I lift the cover - they are looking right back!

Funny! The only time my birds do that is when they're scared from the perch. It used to happen when I first introduced my males to my females. The females took over the perches, and males were scared of them and would cling to the bars in the dark. It used to upset me! lol.

I catch them sleeping with eyes closed during the night and sometimes early in the morning too when the days are short and I turn on the lights in the dark.

I was just thinking... are your perches high enough? I know my birds like to sleep as high up in the cage as possible for safety. If your perches are quite low, maybe they'd prefer to cling to the cage higher up?
