Hello - just wanted some advice please. To get you up to speed:
Smudge and Georgie
These are my two new baby budgies. I've had them for about 2 months and they have been coughing and were getting a little poorly but after a trip to the vet and some Ivermectin they seem to be much better (air sac mite infection) but I had to separate them from the big cage and my other two older budgies (Patch and Jasper). The vet told me to keep them separate until they stopped coughing to prevent reinfection so they are currently in the dining room in a small cage (I only had one large enough for one budgie but for their health it was best to keep them separate for a few weeks).
Patch and Jasper
After I separated them I noticed Jasper coughing too so have also treated them both with Ivermectin - last dose was given yesterday and I wanted to wait 7 days to ensure they are clear.
I think they younger two are getting a bit stressed partly as they are in the small cage and also they can hear each other and talk to each other but Jasper is a different budgie being away from the other two as they seemed to bond very well and quite quickly.
Anyway - Georgie seems to have diarrhea at night only. His day time poops are fine but in the morning when I check them his night time pile of poops are sage green coloured with the white bit but in a pudding state - a bit wet. He was like this when I first got him too and I also put that down to a new environment etc.
Should I try giving him weak black tea for a week to see if that helps with the stress and poops? He seems otherwise very healthy.
I read that I need to let a tea bag brew for 3mins and then drain and re brew with fresh boiling water for a further 5 mins before cooling and serving.
What do you think?
