One of my Italian friends can't believe we eat the stuff though. Add me to your list I couldn't stand the smell of it.

Hezz. I can move all the marmite posts if you like to a new thread? They were inspired by Bluey on the vegemite pot though

Vegemite is one of the few things that we here in the tropics DON'T have to put in the fridge, Sam. It is full of good stuff, and no fat. Just go really easy on it - it really is a smear, or a scrape across your crackers or bread/toast. We do still put ours in the fridge, just because ...... BB, the little guy holding the "hijaked thread" sign is a ninja! For young teenagers (ie 12-13 years old) everything cool is "ninja" at the moment. Especially if it involves daring feats or spectacular stunts. So Sparky fits right in there, with his zero margin for error with his flying stunts.

That's funny as I have never put Marmite in the fridge either?! Would go a bit hard I think! But thanks for the tip Hezz, when I get some I shall use sparingly, as I do like a lot of Marmite on my toast. Thanks for the confirmation that Asda sell it Marianne! Will have to report back my findings/tastings ! ;D

I found it sooo funny in the mornings - hubbie has a piece of bread with vegemite. Bluey was always the first to hassle but then Smudge would arrive and then Sparky. Not like a dog you can just push out of the way ........ and three at once! Someone always managed to sneak around on the blind side and have a nibble. Now I notice Smudge is taking over from where Bluey left off. The bottle comes out ...... flap, flap, thump (that's Smudge landing on my shoulder) ........scramble down my arm and try for the cracker, knife, lid, bottle, fingers ....... anything that may have some vegemite on it.

Sorry Rachael, I missed your post first time through. I don't know - he looks so much more spikey with his little head feathers standing straight up, but he doesn't sit still long enough for a good photo, plus he hangs around in the cage if I don't turf him out sometimes.
