Following on from my other thread about mating i have gone out to the birds this afternoon and checked that pairs nest box again and found their first egg .
Lol im like a kid in a sweet shop im so happy lol

Well she has 2 eggs now , she laid her second late yesterday as expected .

it loos as if she has stopped at 2 eggs , she was due a 3rd yesterday but hasnt laid it , she is happily sitting on thse 2 :-)

Ah right so she might lay another today then , well ive just been out there feeding everyone and noticed she came out of the box for a couple of mins and mated with the cock again then went straight back to the eggs .

Mating is always a positive sign of more eggs. Most of my hens won't allow the cocks to mate once they are done with the clutch.

Well today she has laid her 3rd egg 6 days after her second egg , the first egg is deffinitely fertile but cant see anything in the second egg .

That's great The eggs can be candled after 8 to 10 days of incubation.
