Hi, I just thought I would let you know that Buzby is doing better now, his poos are a normal shape and he is still very alert and active like before. The only thing his poos are sometimes greyish, but then when they dry they go normal colour and he sometimes drop them normal colour, but no runny ones now.
I assume this is cause of the millet spray he is eating that his poos are doing that, but they are white in the middle and black like a normal budgie poop.
My problem is that for some reason he wont eat his seed, I can get him to take a trill or 2 like he gives it a little taste then he wont eat no more Trill. He always liked his trill, but the last week he gone off it.
I bought him a Avira treat and he licked it, a little nibble, not took much but that was it. So I give him back a millett as I didnt want to starve the poor boy. So now I am at a loss what type of food I could give him. I have looked at his beak, and im sure that it is OK, it is straight not curling under (as I have had a bird with a beak over growing), it might be a little long but I dont think it would cause him problems as it is straight.
He will nibble a iodine block, so I am assumming that he aint in pain or discomfort with his beak as surely he wouldnt nibble the block. Any advice how can I help him as I dont want to keep him on millett, but I dont want to starve him either and he get runny poop again. Thanks in advance.
Anthony

Also if it makes any difference, I think he coming out of a molt as 2 week ago he dropped feathers, and now he got a few pin feathers and he is rubbing his head all over the place where he is itchy. He is also preening himself well lol

Hi Anthony. One of our othr members had a problem where her budgie wasn't eating anything other than millet too, while and after it had been sick. I think it was sheer perserverence that got her budgie back onto seed, but in it's own good time. Sorry, but I can't remember what Buzby's problem was - has he been on antibiotics? Or if he had been sick for some time his digestive flora may be all shot, making millet an easier option for him to eat. If AB's previously, probiotics in his water can help get his guts back to normal health. As he is moulting too, will he eat eggfood, either moist or dry, or hardboiled egg mashed up? These are good for getting some protein back into him as new feathers are very draining and rather stressful for a budgie. Hope something there helps.

The white in the droppings is urine which is normal. A sick or recovering budgie will eat what he likes as they know what their bodies need or can deal with. Once he recovers fully, you will have to make a routine for millet. Keep the seeds mix in the cage all the time but provide the millet spray once a day only. Also provide him with fresh fruit and vegetables. It will take some time but eventually he will start eating everything. Check this. Interesting things that I feed the budgiesThe condition of the beak can be confirmed from the pictures.

Below is a picture of Buzby and his beak, I dont know if the image shows enough, but this is the best I could catch him tonight. I am just looking for some information as I dont really want to drag him out in this weather of rain/damp etc unneccessarily for a vet to say he is ok if you what I mean, as if he is recovering from some something then sure his immune system will still be a bit fragile. But if he needs to get his beak clipped then I will wrap him up as Ive done it before with my birds, so should be ok but want to avoid it as he aint been on a trip before out of the house, only into the house when he was 5 weeks old. Thanks, buzby beak by acharris_77, on Flickr

Some budgies have these rough/dry patches on their beaks, it's nothing to worry about. As for the shape, it looks normal from this angle. Maybe a side shot will reveal something. But if he is able to crack seed without any problem he should be fine.

I agree with BB ,, the beaks okay, just get his gut settled and he should be fine, one tip is to feed Jap millet in his diet as it is very soft and needs no cracking

Well just to let you know, things arent looking very good for buzby, been to the vet this morning as for some reason I found him on the bottom this morning and it looked like he had trouble with his feet gripping as he was rolling to one side, got him up very quiet and ill looking.
Get him to the vet by 9:30 this morning, could see anything obvious so give us baytrill one dose to put in his water. Im managed to get him to take water, but he is just sitting there holding his head up, not much life in him just sitting.
No chirpping nothing, so I will see if he repsponds or if not then like before I will have to decide if his quality of life will get better as I am hurting seeing the little boy suffer as he is, not I like to do it but sometimes kindness is better than suffering.

Just an update, I took him back over to the vet as he was getting worse, she examined him really well this time and said that it dont look like an infection and that it was more likely a tumour as his breathing was really shallow as she checked his chest. And his looking up all the time with his neck straight was a sign of something serious and in curable She said the choice was mine, but she recommended to put him to sleep to avoid him suffering. I am so so sorry. Always a very hard decision to have them put to sleep but you did it for the best interest of Buzby.
