Hi Allan. Thanks for replying. Do you think this is helping your budgies a lot? - if so how?

Thank you Allan. I really appreciate your input.
I don't eat meat myself and feel squeamish at the thought of giving them worms!
But if it's for their health I'll do it. Am thinking of getting some "Avian Boost" from PS1's online shop. It comtains:
Avian BOOST
Moist Feed looks good enough to eat
Only feed in finger draw whilst breeding or Feeding Chicks also a great Conditioner for all birds or even fed as a treat
Give your birds that extra BOOST Ingrediants Vegetables, fruit ,berries, Honey, Dried Shrimps ,Dried Insects,Meal Worms ,Bakery Products ,Oils,Seeds,Minerals, Vitamin A D3.E

I give mine "ProBoost SuperMax" which is 85% protein so I don't feel the need for worms. Also the idea of feeding insects to my budgies doesn't appeal me

I now my hamster lovessss them!! So does my hamster! I have a whole tub from wilkos. She prefers them to the hammy choc drops. I might try Alfie on one and see what he thinks. He doesn't seem too excited about millet and I'm looking for that special treat that will make him happy.

I feed meal worms to my lot and they love them. They go mad for them. I dont soak mine though i just feed them as them come. As soon as they go in they think its a game and chase each other round with one in there mouth.

Ive often thought about this but didn't think they would touch them. Its interesting. I could handle soaking the dried ones and giving them to them but i couldn't cope with the live wriggling ones, i don't do wiggly things it makes me cringe to think about it. I must give it a go see if they go for them, if not the robins can have them .

I breed mealworms, and a friend of mine, breeder too, breeds buffalo worms, they re just like mealworms, only a little bigger and with a little more protein. These worms have approximately 40% protein, their larva have more and their beattles have more, even 55% pure protein. If you breed finches, like goldfinches, greenfinches etc.or even better birds which have insects in their diet more regularly, such as cardinals, crossbills, coccothraustes, bullfinches etc, feeding them live food is almost necessary.I wrote an article for the forums here, bout how to breed them, with many pics as well, but it s all in greek, would take some time to translate. My budgies didn t eat them alive, didn t try to give them dry or boiled though.
Thank you
