Advice is needed please. Bought Beau and Bobby a new wooden hanging toy but it seems they are scared of it. Now do I leave it in there for them to get used to it or should I remove it? Don't like to think of them as being scared but then I would like them to get to used to new things. All advice gratefully received. Many thanks. X

My little Larry was often timid and scared by new toys.
I found that if I placed the toy "outside" his cage where he could see it, but it was no threat to him, he would soon become accustomed to it, then I could place it in his cage.
Why not give this a try!

I would leave it in, maybe move it so it is a little out of the way. I have found giving the birds a look from my finger and persistently work at getting them to perch on it worked for me a number of times. If you have no luck with getting them close to it, just leave them be with it in the cage, and they will explore when they are ready.

Some budgies are afraid of anything new but they get used to it sooner or later.

I am in the same situation with one of my budgies, Holly. She lives in a cage on her own and she is very wary of anything new, sometimes even terrified. I would suggest as others have. Leave the toy in their cage but out of the way so that they can avoid it if they want to. I do this with Holly and she now has two new toys that she loves. It only took her 2 or 3 weeks to start playing with them lol.

Yes I agree with the others - try leaving it near the cage outside. Sometimes mine only need a few hours and when I sem them being curious I place it in the cage. It will always take a day or two for them to investigate but normally becomes a fav toy! Good luck.

They do, and whoever is the more bold will one day give it a talking to. Then you are home.
