He could do with a few more feathers but hes getting there Didnt think i'd get any babies this year as the hen died. I looked everywhere for another hen but no one had one for sale, i eventually found another hen but cockatiels dont always bond. My Eddies a good chap though and had the hen laying within a week and touch wood theyve both done a really good job.

Made a flight for the budgies today, its actually a double parrot breeding cube but i thought it would make a good indoor flight cage for any potential babies i'm hoping to breed.

The mesh is about 1/2 inch squares. Your right the door isnt ideal Mick, i'll have to use a small net to catch them.

Just a quick update. Pair 1 - now have 7 eggs the first few showing fertile Pair 2 - Laid their first egg today. She did lay a few weeks ago but discarded it, i think she had mated in the aviary but hadnt settled into the breeding cage enough to sit. Hopefully she will continute to lay now shes settled. Pair 3 - Did have 6 eggs with the first few showing fertile but i dropped number 6 while marking it so there down to 5. Pair 4 - These were down a day before the other 3 pairs and still havent laid. Theres loose poo on the cage floor and the hens spending lots of time in the nestbox but still no eggs. I've checked the shavings carefully for any evidence of a broken/eaten egg but nothing.

It's always nice to know that the pairs are on their way. Pair one's 7 eggs sounds great. You are going to have lots of grey pieds
